Time Line Errata

In preparing my notes to resume compiling the chronology here, I thought it might be useful to post some significant events which occured before the adventures of this company began, but which bear directly upon them. Unless otherwise indicated the material below comes from my own investigations or from what has been reported back to me by members of the Severed Head Company themselves.

1268
The end of the reign of Colderon Morn, Mage Lord of Daggerdale. He drove the dwarves out of the dale and lost his wife to poison. He accused the dwarves, but evidence has been discovered below his old castle which leads one to believe that he had been working directly with drow agents. Upon reflection, it seems far more likely that any use of poisons or treachery is the result of association with the dark elves than with the dwarves of the region--who are lawful and good to a fault. Historical data is sketchy at best, but oral histories that survive indicate that Colderon Morn died a bitter, hate-filled man. Legend has it that his apprentices buried him secretly in a hidden laboratory somewhere beneath the town of Dagger Falls, and then stole his spell book.

It seems likely that the current investigations by my hired company will shed a great deal of light on this little researched aspect of Dalelands history. (background to FRQ3: Doom of Daggerdale)

1299
Vimvender, patriarch of the Wimsicalamity family, runs away from his responsibilities shortly after his son, Stago is born.

1318
Randal Morn's title as ruler of Daggerdale is wrested from him by the Zhentarim. (inferred from FRQ3:2)

03.01.1360
The Temple of Lathander in Dagger Falls mysteriously burns to the ground. (FRQ3:9) The fire kills a dozen priests of the Morning Lord in their beds. Eragyn, preistess of Cyric who has been working to establish a temple to that new god, finds great pleasure in the irony of the Morning Lord's temple being destroyed on the first day of the month known as the Claw of Sunset. Over the next several weeks she proclaims this is a sign of Cyric's power over other gods, but does what she can to spread the suspiscion that the burning of the temple was Constable Tren's doing to discredit him in the eyes of the townspeople. She is able to provide some evidence to support her theory, but many realize she stood more to gain by an act of arson than the constable.

03.06.1360
The surviving Priests of Lathander petition Constable Tren for funds to rebuild their temple. Under pressure from Zhentil Keep, Tren refuses, telling them that the temple burning indicates they are in disfavor with their god, and they should not anger him further by trying to undo their punishment. He advises them to leave Dagger Falls before they bring any further punishments upon the city and its people. The priests are indignant and refuse to leave.

03.08.1360
With the backing of the main Church of Cyric in Zhentil Keep, Eragyn successfully petitions Tren to build a temple to Cyric on the ruins of the Temple of Lathander.

03.09.1360
Tren serves notice of eviction on the remaining priests of Lathander, who leave Dagger Falls to join their brethern in Shadowdale. Tren orders the town assemble for their departure, whereupon he announces plans to build a temple to Cyric on the ruins of the old temple of the Morning Lord. Eragyn will become the official High Priestess of the new temple, and Cyric Worship will be the official religion of Daggerdale.

03.15.1360
The construction on the new temple begins. The process is slow and expensive.

02.11.1368
Eragyn is discovered missing.

02.12.1368
The first known victim of the Dream Fever in Dagger Falls.
